Hello everyone! Hope this finds you well and in good spirits. I want to extend a personal invitation to a special event on Black Friday, November 25th at Darrell's Tavern in Shoreline. Come and burn off your turkey stupor with the Kim Virant Band and the Garth Reeves Band. And if that double bill weren't cool enough... we'll be hosting a special Black Friday jam session featuring both bands and SPECIAL GUESTS... (maybe even you?!). We'll have amps and axes! 

Doors: It's a bar! Come early. Stay late!

Special show just announced. At long last, Kim Virant and I are getting a joint bill and at Darrell’s!! We’re going to co-host a special post-Thanksgiving jam. Both our bands will play a set and then open the stage for an all-star evening of tunes. This promises to be one of those nights....

Summer shows starting to fill in. Looking forward to getting the band fired up.  Been playing a lot of mandolin... look for some of that recording and live to come soon. And in keeping with my “no wine before its time” ethos, the “record” is coming too... I promise.

This is my second time up in as many months and I'm thrilled to be a) opening for the great Massy Ferguson but b) I'll be playing with the compadre Phil Emerson, tearing it up on the Johnny Smith archtop. We'll play something borrowed, something blue, and definitely something hot to warm up for the Massy boys. We go on at 9:30.

Thursday August 26th

@ The Tractor Tavern in Seattle, WA

Thrilled to be back at the Tractor! Great 3 band bill with Ben Union and Andrew Vait. It's looking like we open, around 9... The boys are ready and waiting....

Saturday August 28th

@ The Red Bicycle, Vashon IS, WA

Closing out the summer with our much anticipated, and first, sojourn to "the island"!! We're thrilled to bring the full band boogie the the island and the Red Bicycle. 

In other news... All Around You from the Nothing But Time album got picked up for a movie!! I'll keep you posted on title/release/etc. And in case you missed it, don't forget to check out the new tunes up on the website!

Breaking news! Two completed tracks!! Check out Sweet Marie and New Caledonia on the Sounds page... It’s been a long time coming and I’m psyched to have some songs for the world. I don’t know what to do with songs anymore... CDs are dead... maybe vinyl when we get enough tracks?! Let me know what you think...

Summer is finally here (in spurts) and I’ve been working way too much... but rock n’ roll is in the near and distant future... Saturday night will be awesome, I can’t wait!!!

I almost forgot!!! Saturday July 3rd the one and only Phil Hurley is coming to town with Stonehoney! Jeff Fielder will be hosting, the boys and I will be playing and it will be a guitar slinging hoedown!! This is going to be summer highlight show. DO NOT MISS!!!

...AND, I don’t know how long I’ll leave this up, but here is a new demo of an old song from the Blue Spark days. I went to visit my grandma a week ago and dreamed up this arrangement somewhere over the continental US... Check out Grandma (demo 2010) here...

Hattie’s benefit was brilliant... Thanks to the Joanna H. for having us. What a treat see everyone (Andy Davenhall!!, Ian, Kwab, Johnny, Nick & Heather... and the list goes on). When I left they had raised over $2000!!

Incidentally, this was the second public performance of the new “outfit”... or band with no name (too bad that one is already taken!). It was a treat to play the Mandolin (even if I am in serious need of a better instrument...). Look for some tunes posted up here soon. Phil, Erika and I are in the process of recording in the garage around a microphone and hope to have some old-time-up-to-date tunes posted soon.
